We had the great privilege of working with Jamie Michaels and Doug Fedrau of Dirty Water Comics on this project. Jamie is a captivating storyteller and knows this content better than most historians. Doug’s raw comic book style throws the audience right into the thick of riot, along with support from Mike Fiore’s immersive sound design.

At Bonfire, we fully leaned into this comic book style, using the same style of treatment in the archival documents, footage, stills, text and animation. The overall effect brings this horrific moment in Canadian history to life - a story that is so undertold, it feels like fiction.
